Wow! Thats a great story! Hope mine works out that well! Just gotta convince her that DH racing isnt that crazy... she came along to the race last weekend (RedBulls 12 hr dh race in angelfire) and thought we were absolutely insane to be racing with light systems on, on a world cup course. I have a feeling She'll always think Im a little nuts, but we shall see!

She is indeed. The question is more likely "How long can she deal with me" than "How long will she stick to biking" Razz

Thanks! She sure loves it. Upped her self confidence, and gives me a buddy I can always take places. Its entirely too cool. It wasnt so much ME getting her into it, she wanted to see what its like, and I just happen to have lots of parts and connections Razz

the doctors are saying i should ice more, excersise more and spend less time standing. I'm doing the best I can with my work shedule, and now that the pool is open again i'm going to try to do that more often. My xc skills are really basic... i hate going uphill! ha

I'm pretty stoked for winter... where do you usually board at??

Long range forecast yesterday said Monday will be sunny and 20. I'll be heading up to Moose if the snow manages to melt some. I'll bet last night's storm didn't help though...

Hi! It was great thanks!! still a few days left in the park.. then time to put the bike away and take out my boards. I hope next year my knee is 100% so that I can xc again without all the pain... and hopefully can get a dh bike.

How was your season? You one of those lucky people that gets to bike all year?? hope all's well!

We ride here in B ville . We are all mountain trails around here only. If you are riding downhill, its because you just pedalled up a hill. We can ride at Camp Fortune in Gatineau but never made it this year. Our trails are all cut by us and would be concidered extreamly tech next to what most ride anywhere. I was amazed we went to Calabogie last year ( its closed now) for our first DH day ever how easy the trails were. Even the DH trails were esier than our reg every day stuff. My son passed people on full sus with his Kona HT. I would love to have the terrain you guys have avail though and would never pedal up a hill again if given the chance!!

That's just as well. I coach my school's (I'm a teacher) Sr. Boys Volleyball team, and we have a tournament on Saturday, which means I will be spending Sunday with the family. So no riding for me. Perhaps during the week, or one day on the long weekend. I'll let you know.

thanks for the invite to golden. I'm currently travelling in China and it's still a communist country so sorry can't access FB to reply! but hey, they haven't censored Pinkbike lol. anyhow, i've still got a week in Asia and i'm sorely missing my bike. there's a billion bikes here and crazy ass mountains, but i doubt there's a single freerider in this land. have a wicked time in golden and if you do mt 7, rip on one the 15k for me. i got shortchanged with a broken seatpost last time so only managed a run on the 5k.

Yeah...All pics are from Moose. Billy Dog is my baby, but I've had help from the Guerilla Basterds crew. Still needs a ton of work to live up to the vision that I have for it, but it's already wicked fun. At least four more launches, a wallride, and a bunch of other surprises!!

Well ... I'm learning to ride REALLY well in wet, muddy conditions!! Haha. Temp-wise, it's ideal. Nice and not too warm ... almost fall-ish weather. Could do without the rain though. You?

viccho wrote

oh yeah forgot to mention, we got rained out our first day there, so we hit up the air dome. it was sooooo much fun, although the first time i dropped in, i was crapping my pants. i was more afraid of the drop in then the jump itself. it's 90 degrees and the big bikes a literally hanging off the edge. did you have a chance to try it?

viccho wrote
Jul 31, 2009 at 12:44
we got hrs of video and pics too. i got one identical to yours on the concrete slab!
fav runs were upper freight train, blue velvet (love that big step up followed by the wall ride) A-line, and crank it up. i found some of the tables on aline were too big for my chickenshitness to clear, but the big GLC drop is easy although i did the small one the first time. i only did dirt merchant twice and ate it really hard off the first little drop.
only did two double blacks. whistler downhill and scheyler. i'll have to get some pics and vids up. facebook took priority lol.

just got back from whistler. and not a moment too soon. they've got forest fires near blackcomb and both mountains were evacuated on thursday. i left wednesday morning. awesome riding and bigger than anything i've ever done before. it was brutally hot. close for 40 degrees when we left which just saps your energy. my body is battered and bruised from eating it several times but it was all worth it.

We shuttled up a fire service road that runs behind and up from my sister's backyard in the Monashee area in Cherryville. Went up to KM13, then rode the rest of the way to the peak. No one really goes up there except loggers and ranchers on horseback checking their cattle if they happen to range that far.
The fires are a mess alright, but fortunately my family lives a good hour away from them, so they're safe, but the wind blew the smoke across the valley and we were able to see and smell it. Scary stuff, it makes everyone nervous no matter the distance, the whole area is a tinder box.

It's been good. We've booked a two day trip to Sun Peaks at the end of August, can't wait! Hoping to hit Whistler again in the next couple of weeks as well, I really want to ride Ninja Cougar, that run looks like so much fun.
We also went to the Okanagan this weekend to visit family, and were able to do an awesome ride at the top of a mountain behind my sister's property. Amazing views up there! And we forgot the stupid camera. Razz
Hope you can head to Whistler again and hit it good and hard once more and that Glory of yours. You did some slick work in those photos, wow!

we got a convoy of boys from edmonton heading out to moose on saturday. Bruce is heading it up. you going to be around?
btw, i sold the Glory (she'll be missed!) and picked up 2008 Wilson 3. alot lighter and better jumping but the single plys might need to be swapped for some real tires.

Same here - neither of us wanted to stop! But it looked pretty funny to see me ride up to the lifts on that tiny bike up against all those other big travel rigs...there were a few cocked eyebrows! But get this - there was an older woman (about 50 or so) riding her old rigid frame commuter on Easy Does It. Now THAT'S hardcore old school! Smile

Its funny the girls side of the industry is more hostile and jealous than the mens...you and terrianne are real mature. go make a video of the girls that are better, it would be cool to see it. and until then stfu and no your comment "didnt go over well" you started it off with "im not trying to be a jerk..."

Thanks for the recommendation. This will be her first time riding something other flat, easy XC singletrack and I really don't want her to fall and get discouraged so early. The reason I ask about Sun Peaks is because my parents live in Scotch Creek (by Kamloops) during the summers so we can stay for free. So long as they have at least one super-easy trail (I can't see her doing more than 2-3 runs anyway), that should do fine. Is Smooth-Smoothy super-easy for an absolute beginner? Thanks again
